Photovoltaic backsheet is an important part of photovoltaic modules. It is located on the back of the modules and is used to resist the erosion of packaging adhesive films, battery sheets and other materials caused by environmental influences such as light, humidity and heat, and plays the role of weather resistance and insulation. Therefore, photovoltaic backsheet films are required to have excellent high and low temperature resistance, ultraviolet radiation resistance, environmental aging resistance, water vapor barrier, electrical insulation and other properties to meet the service life of photovoltaic modules of 25 years or more. With its excellent weather resistance, PVDF can effectively protect the PET base film of the middle layer of the back sheet and improve the service life of the entire component, and is widely used in photovoltaic back sheet molds.

1.PFAS definition:(per-& polyfluoroalkyl substances) series of non-natural compounds. H in some C- H bonds that may exist on the molecular carbon chain skeleton is replaced by F to form fluorinated hydrophobic chains, including PVDF, PTFE, etc.
2.PFAS hazards: potential endocrine disruptors associated with a variety of adverse outcomes, including reproductive and developmental toxicity, may affect the functional persistence of reproductive hormones, and are hardly biodegradable
3.PFAS Act: In 2021, the United States requires PFAS not to be detected for packaging materials.
Article 68 of Annex 17 of the EU REACH Regulation restricts the C9-C14 of PFCA
3M plans to stop using PFAS in its product portfolio by the end of 2025

No fluorine adhesive HJ815

The molecular structure of fluorine-free adhesive HJ815 is a propylene copolymer, which is non-toxic and degradable, avoiding the PFAS Act. Compared with PVDF,HJ815 can also have excellent weather resistance, effectively protect the PET base film of the middle layer of the back plate, and improve the service life of the whole module.
HJ815 can completely replace PVDF for photovoltaic backsheet film.
